On July 23, 2011, Bards of Birmingham presented their first Renaissance Feaste Fundraiser, hosted by King Henry VIII and Queen Anne Boleyn! More that 30 guests were entertained not only by the member of His Majesty's court, which included Katherine of Aragon, Cardinal Wolsey, Charles and Mary Brandon, and Lady Jane Seymour, but also by young performers who sang, danced, and performed plays for everyone in attendance. Guests were served a 3-course Renaissance Feaste, which included soup in bread bowls, almond rice, Cornish hens, fruit, vegetables, and fruit tarts. The only thing missing? The silverware, of course! During the course of the evening, King Henry VIII was confronted by the beautiful Spanish queen, Katherine of Aragon, whom he had divorced in favor of his lovely mistress, Anne Boleyn; Lord Charles Brandon flirted with all the young ladies, in hopes of attracting another rich young heiress; Cardinal Wolsey lent an air of worldly solemnity to the proceedings, and the guests were able to observe all of the drama first-hand!
