Bards of Birmingham Is Delighted to announce

A Merchant of Venice

by William Shakespeare

Join us in Venice, 1938. Il Duce rules with an iron fist, and within fascist Italy, Jews are considered aliens in their own homeland. To woo the wealthy heiress Portia, Bassanio must borrow money from his friend Antonio - who must, in turn, borrow money from the Jewish moneylender Shylock, who has problems of her own. Come see the unfolding of one of Shakespeare's most intriguing comedies.

All performances are at Unity Church of Birmingham, 2803 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35205
